Look! LOOK! @afharrold.bsky.social (yes, the one who wrote The Imaginary, and The Song From Somewhere Else, and The Worlds We Leave Behind!) has read and enjoyed #TheSilverRoad! I also have it on good authority that he enjoyed #SwordOfTheSun a while back. *excited bouncing*

I finished reading this Irish myth-weaving tale of a girl who gets roped in to stopping the rebirth of chaos god Balor of the One Eye, while riding an Itish elk with her school bully. Cracking stuff. #TheSilverRoad by @sineadohart.bsky.social. #KidLit #MG #mythic #adventure

It's wonderful to see my books on bookshop shelves, surrounded by pals. #SwordOfTheSun looks great tucked up between @evemcdonnell.bsky.social and @afsteadman.bsky.social, with fellow Wexfordian #EoinColfer right beside us. Thanks to @bookstation.bsky.social Gorey, and Eve for the photo!
Packed bookshop shelves with colourful children's books on display. The middle shelf features, from left to right: AF Steadman's Skandar and the Skeleton Curse, Sinéad O'Hart's Sword of the Sun, Eve McDonnell's The Last Boy, and Eoin Colfer's Artemis Fowl.

The legends at Dubray Books revealed the cover for my next MG novel on Tuesday... And here it is. SWORD OF THE SUN, coming August 29th! Mythology, heavy metal, mystery bears... it's all here. Preorders: lnk.to/SwordoftheSun or via your fave bookshop. Art: Manuel Sumberac. Published: Piccadilly Press
Front cover of Sword of the Sun, written by Sinéad O'Hart. Cover art is by Manuel Sumberac. Image shows two human figures in foreground. A large dolmen (megalithic portal tomb made of large slabs of rock) is in front of them, with a huge bear curling around it to look at the figures. The light from the bear shining through cracks in the dolmen forms the shape of an upright sword. Title in gold lettering appears above characters' heads. In the background is the suggestion of a mountain. In the close foreground there are branches, leaves, grass and sparkles made of gold and turquoise foil. The overall colour scheme for this cover is greenish-blue, with gold lettering.

We had a marvellous launch for #SwordOfTheSun at the weekend, in the gorgeous surrounds of @halfwayupbooks.bsky.social - thanks to all the crew for making me so welcome! Signed copies available via @halfwayupbooks.bsky.social, regular copies wherever you get your books, and I hope you love it!
Woman (white, fat, wearing glasses and a butterfly-patterned blouse, sitting behind a small table. On the table are some books, piled up, a glass of water, and some pens. She is sitting on a cushioned window-seat, looking to her right and smiling, as she opens a book to sign it. She's holding a blue Sharpie pen. The woman is me!

Annnnd... as if having a book freshly published wasn't enough, I'm delighted to announce my next novel, coming from Piccadilly Press on August 29th! SWORD OF THE SUN is a tale of myth, magic, legend, ancient lore, epic stakes - and some heavy metal, too.

Preorder here: lnk.to/SwordoftheSun
From the award-winning author of The Silver Road comes a new tale of contemporary Ireland and ancient myth... When Ben and his family have to leave Dublin and move into the remote house where his mother grew up, he's not optimistic about what lies ahead. For him and his brother Fin, it'll mean fitting in to life with his aunts and a cousin he doesn't even know. But what Ben doesn't expect is that he will be drawn into the mysteries of the wild mystical landscape. He can sense its power, and he can see a light shining from the mountain on the horizon. Even stranger, crows are gathering, watching him and haunting his dreams. As Ben uncovers the stories of Ireland's mythical heroes and warriors that obsessed his grandfather right up until he died, Ben begins to wonder if there is more to the tales than pure fantasy. It seems like trouble is stirring - and will he have the power to face it?
