(something similar existed when syndication was the goal for network shows - take a show like "wings" - once that show went into syndication nightly on a smaller platform (the USA network) the first run NBC ratings spiked: showing older episodes on USA was basically a commercial for the show on air)

Looney Tunes remained popular for decades precisely because it was airing in widespread syndication on TV all the time. Old cartoons should be FREE to find new audiences, ESPECIALLY when their rights holders don't even care enough to platform them anymore.
After leaving HBO Max earlier this year, ‘Looney Tunes’ is a hit on Tubi, the company says, and popular across generations. It should be a model for every classic cartoons trapped in streaming limbo.

Looney Tunes remained popular for decades precisely because it was airing in widespread syndication on TV all the time. Old cartoons should be FREE to find new audiences, ESPECIALLY when their rights holders don't even care enough to platform them anymore.

whenever I think about how a movie's financial success has been reduced to essentially it's first weekend in theaters, I am reminded there used to be a thriving economy based on months-long schedules, rentals, VHS and DVD sales, regional theaters, syndication on TBS, and international release dates
