We used to talk to editors on the phone all the time. No longer. I used to Fedex massive Syquest cartridges back and forth with digital files. Lineart has gotten more detailed, and uglier, and generated by 3D programs, and drawn with terrible digital brushes, and looks deader, and less dynamic.

1992 - Sold a SyQuest drive to Michael Crichton over the phone. In the comments section on the invoice, I put "Error 601" A few days later, he called back and said, "Error 601! That was funny." and hung up. That was the error code when the simulation computer crashed in The Andromeda Strain.

I mentioned Micro/MacWarehouse’s Kerry in my recent article on PC Connection’s raccoons, and lots of people remembered her. Here she is on the packaging for the company’s house-brand SyQuest cartridges (a sort of proto-Zip disk).

I used to have several of those "removable" drive bays.... Was nicer when I got my SyQuest drive... much more portable.. heh
