I found an IBM ThinkPad 600X connected via RS232 to one of the fiber SANs. It runs Windows XP SP2. I found the password and logged in.
This computer has been sitting there, on, for 2,585 days (7.08 years).
Its battery still holds a charge!

Well..... I remembered that I compiled containerd for arm64 a while ago and just synced the latest main into my fork this past weekend.
Paired with the ltsc-2025-arm64 image.... I managed to... do something
And....

Shadows aren't affected by render layers. What a nasty bug. It's old though, so not critical. But oh hey, we have a PR to fix this from April. I poked the author about this but they haven't responded yet. Might need to be adopted, but I want to keep this.

Ich würde jetzt nicht sagen, er läuft wie ne 🚀, aber doch um Welten besser als mit Windows 11 🐌. Für 46 EUR habe ich heute den 11 J. alten Acer auf 16 GB RAM aufgerüstet, und man kann jetzt echt gut damit arbeiten. So haucht man alten Maschinen neues Leben ein. Nachhaltiger als Neukauf.
