Kind of reminds me of the 'don't use tables for layout' era. I remember getting really worked up about T4L, but in retrospect the core problem was that CSS sucked so badly. T4L was a very real accessibility problem but c. 50% of the moralising could have been diverted to requesting CSS grids sooner.
