New regulations for the consumable hemp industry approved by the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission on Tuesday will prohibit the sale of consumable help products by TABC license holders to people under 21 and require ID checks on all sales.

The new rules apply to 60,000 TABC license holders, like convenience stores and restaurants. The Department of State Health Services is also working to finalize its own rules for smoke shops.

I spent about 14 minutes on a call with TABC today to find out whether or not I have to go through a distributor to buy non-alcoholic beer for our bar. Love living in a state with limited government. 🤘🏻

The funny thing is, the folks at TABC are extremely helpful and very, very nice. It's just that our state has so many dumbass regulations.

ISDs, college & university PDs, many state agencies have a law enforcement arm (eg TABC, TPWD, TRC). County sheriffs and constables (254 counties, one of each per). City PDs. Infrastructure agencies (water, shipping, airports, transport). Prisons. And the feds.
