I think the bigger issue is that it was said without the victim's consent and done so without tact.
Never before in my life have I seen anyone be asked about evidence regarding a serious accusation and respond that they've already been trying to get it/an archive and attached a ":)" at the end.

Living in SE Asia, I've seen the "asking for directions" scam. Tourist way: You stop to help. Local way: Keep walking, say "I'm not from here" or "Sorry, I don't know." Always be vigilant with your bag. Your stuff matters more than their fake lost look.

i wanted on that was a little dingier so i could customize but i didn't know there was such massive differences in quality between releases

Like I've definitely seen statements made by people in response to this and similar cases that I'd disagree with, but it doesn't take much tact and compassion to realise that 'well, actually...'-ing someone upset at an incredibly traumatic experience is, shall we say, not necessary and or helpful?
