Just the President speculating about military takeovers of three of America’s largest cities.
Trump calls for sending federal troops into cities: "I'd love to do Chicago because Chicago is potentially great city. But you're gonna lose it. It's gotta be done. I'd love to do it in Los Angeles. I'd love to do it in NYC. We remove the bad people from those cities so they never come back"

if journalism is supposed to be one of the institutions that safeguards a free society then journalists should be opponents of autocratic takeovers, brian.
Consider the possibility that the Trump White House WANTS this fight. Wants journalists to act like opponents instead of observers. If the entire press pool skipped a Trump photo op in solidarity with The AP, wouldn't the White House welcome Breitbart and One America News to take their places?
And, are you or your colleagues boycotting covering the WH as a protest?

The obvious answer here is that the student protest movement was broadly smeared as anti-semitic and aligned with terrorists, and a variety of institutions from government, media and the universities acted as if that smear was true, threatening, suspending, expelling and even deporting students.
As President Donald Trump’s unauthorized war on Iran with Israel entered into its second month, some Democratic officials were looking around and wondering: Where are the anti-war protests this time around? And why are college campuses so quiet?

When a president sends troops into American cities to “restore order,” what he’s really doing is testing obedience. Portland and Chicago aren’t war zones…they’re warning shots. Authoritarians don’t announce takeovers. They practice them. One city at a time. However, each practice destroys families.

Moderate Dems watch: Mark Warner just posted he “cannot and will not vote to fund DHS while this administration continues these violent federal takeovers of our cities.”
The package with ICE funding will be in the Senate this week and will need Democratic votes to advance.
