Hmmm in TDBSaS there was a great storm world flood as part of the mythos. In the actual book, there's a storm early on that waylays their progress, but I wouldn't call it extreme... During the final showdown, there's another freak, supernatural sort of storm that happens too

ASMLP: sometimes you're the monster---and sometimes the true monster is ableism and a system that inherently exploits its users.

TDBSaS: It is okay to love and to grieve, and to be irrational because of both, but you should always remember the community around you and that you aren't alone.

-Release tdbsas. I put too much work into it to do nothing. What, exactly, this looks like? Uncertain. Paperbacks, at least.

-future projects after that... to be determined. Maybe it'll go on a blog. Maybe it'll be itch-only releases from here. Idk yet.

ASMLP would make a good movie and nothing else.

TDBSaS would make a killer adventure RPG. I think that would be sick. Unsure how I'd manage the seafaring in a way that balanced player agency vs adherence to the plot... but that's perhaps for a game designer to figure out.

Im having the same problem with tdbsas tbh. I keep saying I want it to be summer but I havent committed to a date yet because for all I know ill want to kms tomorrow and there goes a month of progress again.

Okay so I wrote a whole essay about why I chose Malta as inspo for TDBSaS but in summation: an attempt to connect to culture, an homage to family, and it's a setting I've never seen utilized.

As much as I appreciate worldbuilding, it's the least important element to me of storytelling and it shows lmfao the most effort I've put into it has been for TDBSaS, because it's an homage to my family's culture. Otherwise, worldbuilding is all vibes to me.

They'd be welcome to try, but the world bible I have is mostly locked within my head. I wouldn't outright say NO, but I have a lot of things that required an intense amount of thinking through.

Also TDBSaS is an outright No because it's a cultural piece and v important to me.

I do think TDBSaS is the closest rn, but not quite. While Edera and Seren aren't quite... hero types? Like Seren is CHOSEN to save the world and doesn't want to. Edera WANTS to save the world even tho it costs her everything. But does that make them heroic? Idk.

Hit 40k in TDBSaS so naturally I celebrated by having Edera stark naked and sobbing with grief in her home. Go me lmaoooo
The Hunter That, Edera thinks as her echoing voice wavers and dies, is as good a place as any for her kronaki to conclude for the night. She’s been here since the sun first rose this morning, pouring her heart out to as many Zedinians as she can. All the while, all she has thought of is Seren. Seren, Seren, Seren. Her wife’s name makes her gut twist an uncomfortable degree. Even being pinned by the burn of nearly a hundred pairs of eyes upon her has not wounded her as much as the notion of her wife’s name. If she utters it or hears it one more time, she’ll… Edera isn’t aware she’s running until the temple has rushed by her and the streets of il-Zedina are thudding beneath her feet. Firien, stubborn little beast he is, clings to her shoulder with claws like fish hooks. He isn’t going to let go, she hopes, else they both end up wounded for the effort. She does a lap around the temple district, legs pumping and heart a blazing hearth in her chest. Her hair, limp from days of remaining unwashed, fights free of the meager tie she secured it with this morning. Sweat pools in her legs and arms and crotch, in the valley between her breasts and the back of her neck, until all of her is a sopping wreck. Still she does not stop, weaving through the tan stone streets and howling until what little remains of her voice gives way. She does not remember arriving back in the house she and Seren shared, only the weight of a body in motion being forced into stillness at last. Collapsing against her bed, she peels the layers of fabric and Firien from her body until she is as bare as the day she was born. Then, body twisting into a rictus of anguish, Edera sobs until the waves of sleep crest over her at last.

#LGBTQWriteAThon day 10!

Queer people have complex relationships and positions in life, and while I understand the importance of "good"/happy endings, I think tragedy is just as poignant and powerful. TDBSaS is a love letter to dying loved ones—and also to the community around you in the aftermath.
