Absolutely infuriating.
Three times since 2016 Kerr County ahs asked the Texas Dept. of Emergency Management (TDEM) for a $1 million flood alert program and were denied each time.
Meanwhile, TDEM has spent hundreds of millions on "border security" boondoggle contracts under Op. Lone Star.

Kerr County asked Texas for help multiple times in 8 years. It said no.
Kerr County and the Upper Guadalupe River Authority have tried several times to get funding to upgrade flood alerts on the river, dating back to 2016.

On July 1, TDEM activated state emergency response resources and elevated readiness levels over the next day as heavy rain was forecasted. TDEM then placed the State Operations Center (SOC) at Level II “Escalated Response”, with full capability to support local jurisdictions.

My generous read of this is that this is a weird miscommunication? My understanding is that Kidd wanted to stay in Texas to run TDEM (because for him this is as sweet a gig as you get in public sector EM), not that he did not physically want to move to DC???

This is why:
1. I won’t hang someone out to dry if they do what they’re expected to do.
2. The actions inside the emergency management of Kerr County don’t make sense.
The only answer I see at this point, is Kerr County failed to do their jobs. TDEM and surrounding counties did theirs.
