A special purpose vehicle is not enough to protect Euroclear. There needs to be a security emergency regulation (Art 288, TFEU) with immediate and direct effect, stating that assets belonging to the Russian Federation will be forfeited on security emergency grounds (Art 2(4) UN Charter; GA Res 3314)

24 EU judgments since 1980 weighed a public-interest plea for restricting competition. Since 2006, NOT ONE has saved an agreement between competitors.

The AI slowdown pact under EU law (Buist v. Anthropic)
Four paying users of ChatGPT, Claude, Grok and Gemini say the frontier labs illegally fixed the pace of AI in public. Under Article 101 TFEU most of the answer is already written. It runs against the labs on three steps out of four.

Since we’re talking about the EU’s Multiannual Financial Framework again, now is as good a time as any to remind everyone what it says about the EU’s own resources in art. 311 TFEU.

(It says that that’s basically how the EU is meant to be funded.)

2/ Proponents lazily argue that because art. 123 TFEU doesn't explicitly forbid debt write-offs, it could be legal. This obviously disregard the principle of law: given the ECB is fordiden to make loans to governments, a fortiriori it cannot legally give money. They also ignore the jurisprudence.

Ook de Benelux-samenwerking staat onder druk. Meer art. 350 (van het TFEU), waar onze premier terecht voor pleit, lijkt meer en meer een verre droom. Of een illusie? Spijtig. www.vrt.be/vrtnws/nl/20...

Leaving the EU automatically means you leave the Single Market & Customs Union.

It's there for all to see in TFEU from Art.26.

So now you've learnt something new will you stop saying variants of 'no-one voted to leave the Single Market'?

You can't become an EU candidate if you don't commit to monetary policy. As a candidate you cannot progress until you have transposed all relevant EU law on monetary policy into national law.

UK would have to do all that and commit to euro and work towards implementing it. Articles 119 to 144 TFEU

Credibility is not a line item in a prospectus, but it sits inside every discount rate in one. For European readers the contrast is institutional rather than rhetorical. ECB independence is treaty-level — Article 130 TFEU bars its decision-making bodies from seeking or taking

Of course it's EU citizenship, but it only applies to citizens of EU Member States. TFEU Art. 20 couldn't be clearer: 'Every person holding the nationality of a Member State shall be a citizen of the Union. Citizenship of the Union shall be additional to and not replace national citizenship.'
September 20, 2026 at 3:14 PM
Article 20 TFEU is very clear on this. EU citizenship is dependent on holding the nationality of a member state. Rights are link to citizenship. Brits no longer have EU citizenship so no rights.

This isn’t the EU treating Brits “like rubbish”, this is Brits refusing to accept they’re not special.

Framing it as an alliance is in my view a better choice than 'associate membership' which does not exist on the EU treaties beyond a vague art. 217 of TFEU which just says this.

Far short from FoM of people, and ofc reciprocated.

Very sceptical re: an Art5 equivalent on trade, but we'll see.

To bear in mind:

Anything requiring EU treaty changes won't happen.
Art. 217 TFEU it is.

À propos de Tisza & the CJEU: there is no mechanism that allows for overriding an Art. 260(2) TFEU periodic penalty order with a political decision, right? It has dug in on an indefinite refusal to comply with Commission v. Hungary (Declaration of intent) and seems to think it can mobilise
