Getting asked about how academics can continue to do science & inspire trainees even in the midst of a continued (escalated) assault on science, reason, truth, & human rights. I don’t have great answers.

If there is one thing I’ve learned is that if a project is struggling, adding a bunch of new trainees always helps, especially if they’re being paid and you’re not, and they’re the reason you’re not being paid

Horrific. These poor trainees.
I have confirmation from several sources now that all T32s, many F30s and F31s, and most or all Center awards (P30, P50) have been terminated at Columbia.
This is quite damaging to research and to individuals.
This is pure terrorism and cannot be legal. But litigation will take time...

160 members pilot trainees in the US Air Force coming down with the flu because Hegseth eliminated the vaccine mandate is a travesty.
The fact that one died is a tragedy.
The fact that pilot training costs over $100,000 per week per person and 160 trainees just missed 2 weeks is a waste.

In light of today's latest idiotic announcement from Kash Patel that UFC will officially begin training new agent trainees, I'm reposting a few of responses to his similar, previous efforts.
I have thoughts on the recent joint ventures between the UFC and the FBI, and am thankful to @ms.now for giving me a forum to voice them.
