#TSNOTYAW
Many writers did a great job of planting curiosity seeds for me (a term I learned from the TSNOTYAW podcast, which I highly recommend). The best is when I was curious early on to learn more about the protagonist and the world, especially since the manuscripts were speculative fiction.

I have to stop listening to TSNOTYAW on my daily walks. An author interview I listened to both provided inspiration for the saggy middle of my new WIP, but also complicated it by 1000% because now I'm considering adding a murder investigation. Stop meeeeeee...

I second TSNOTYAW! I've learned SO MUCH from Bianca, CeCe & Carly on that podcast, especially related to baking in interiority & building dominoes-tipping-over plot points.

For MG, I also love the Middle Grade Matters podcast, hosted by Shannon Balloon.

Now I'll have to check out Writing Excuses!

So surreal to hear MY query featured on TSNOTYAW! #amquerying After a hotheaded feminist and a cautious, recovering addict are forced to share a cabin at a 1978 training camp, the world of ultrarunning—and both runners’ lives—will never be sure he same…

Caught the most recent TSNOTYAW PODCAST on the way in to work this AM—what a great half hour spent. Listening to Lisa Unger talk about who, when, and why she is who she is in her writing world was inspiring. TEAM—thank you for featuring Lisa this week. Perfect opportunity to learn and be inspired.

Good episode!

But a friendly suggestion? Could you call each other by name now & then? Esp. when discussing MSWLs & preferences.

On Print Run, it's obvious who's Erik & who's Laura (😁) On TSNOTYAW, they still say, "Over to you, Carly/Ceci!"

Like, "What was your flub this week, Andie?"

Thx! 😘
We’re back!! The first episode of our second season is officially live. Go listen and share your thoughts! #writingcommunity

Today, in my personal #TSNOTYAW (the 💩 no one tells you about writing): I should have taken off from my day job the full week or so before my book release. So much to do, so little time!

In the words of Bianca from TSNOTYAW — remember, it only takes one “yes”! I also saw someone say they give themselves $1 for every rejection to celebrate another “no” closer to getting a “yes,” so I’ll be giving myself $3 tomorrow for a lil treat if nothing else. 😂 feel free to do the same!
#RevPitWaiting T-1

TOMORROW is the day, friends. I am honored to have provided entertainment, or at the very least, distraction for this past month.

Let's not be strangers after this 🤗

I listened to TSNOTYAW to prep my QL, then changed it a lot when the time came. 2 rounds posted to r/PubTips, and a couple of friends gave notes on the letter as well. For the manuscript, I had critique partners from Bianca Marais' Great Beta Reader Matchup, plus friends who did a sensitivity read.

My CP @kelligalyean.bsky.social pointed the way to the TSNOTYAW podcast, which has been instrumental in understanding QLs! She also pointed me to an IG creator who had a CP database, where I've matched with several CPs, including RevPit '24 winner, Linh, who told me about RevPit!
#RevPitWaiting day 15!

With #revpit 10queries starting to pop up, this is a great chance to give a shoutout to someone who helped you with your QP or MS!

Did anyone post their query on r/pubtips? Do you have any great beta readers or critique partners?

Resources to share?

As a habitual dweller in Maybeville, I was reassured to know my query probably wasn't an absolute redflag shitshow last time I was in the trenches, even if I suck at predicting what Ceci & Carly won't like in TSNOTYAW.

Also know I'm not a hot trend that evokes agent FOMO so I wait longer. Kewl!
Episode 4—all about the "elusive" maybe pile—is up now!!

As a TSNOTYAW superfan, I’m not going to NOT try to get a copy of Bianca Marais’s new book #AMostPuzzlingMurder at the earliest opportunity. Check it out on Goodreads!

Love the TSNOTYAW podcast and their classes too! (They actually read my query on the podcast, equal parts terrifying and helpful 😂) I’m hoping to check out ThrillerFest one day too!

I’ve taken a few of CeCe Lyra’s webinars that were informative. Everything else has come from craft books, podcasts, chats like these, etc.

Cece Lyra, Carly Watters, and Bianca Marais classes and TSNOTYAW podcasts are still my constants for writing and biz classes. ThrillerFest last year was also fantastic.

TSNOTYAW podcast spoke recently about how novels can explore interiority in a way that film really cannot -- the medium is so much a part of what story can be told and how it is told -- I love #picturebooks because of the particular constraints of the medium #kidlitchat

The only trickledown economics I believe in is where writers go to amazing events like these and I learn from all of you as your work gets published. #deepdiveorbust #tsnotyaw

Favorite writing podcast? Looking to branch out beyond TSNOTYAW (craving more!) Had to quit one I intermittently listened to bc they crossed the "some AI is ok" line 🙄. I have some fabulous bookish ones already, leaning more towards craft.

Good 🧵. When going through pitches on Twitter, I often found the stakes missing or subordinate to the characters, vibes & tropes.

That being said, I'm shit at predicting what CeCe and Carly are going to critique in a query on the TSNOTYAW podcast so take my opinion with a chunk of salt.😬
As far as 🐦/X/Bsky pitches go, I've had agent interest across three books, editor and publisher engagement across two, and an offer of rep on one! With #WipPit and #Holipit this weekend, I figured it was time I posted my how to pitch guide! (Including free resources!)🧵

This is the little manuscript that could (still can?). I started writing it in 2021. Stepped away for a while. Finished. Started querying 10/23. Featured in TSNOTYAW 3/24.

14 full requests. 1 small press offer. Great agent feedback. I just finished an R&R. And now I'm too frozen to send it back!

Hmm, The Witches of Moonshine Manor by Bianca Marais, host of @tsnotyaw podcast
November 21, 2024 at 7:32 PM
I'll have to check it out. I've only seen some of the early episodes. If it comes down to it, maybe you could submit to tsnotyaw podcast for their comp assistance. I wish I knew they did that when I started querying. I would have signed up. haha
