An estimated 60 million free-ranging dogs roam in India. Some of the dogs prey on or cause other problems for native species, but not every type of free-ranging dog presents the same threat.

Argentine black and white tegus are a threat to native species in southern Florida. Researchers are testing scented oils to lure the reptiles to traps, but they wanted to make sure the scents weren’t accidentally attracting native mammals.
