We just started using tabnine at work a couple weeks ago for coding and just having it write docstrings is saving a lot of time. Of course you have to edit it but it gets it 90% right

For a subset of the hype (basically, a little over what tabnine did before AI became cool), it's a fine tool.

But a lot just isn't reliable enough. If every day the dishwasher broke a plate, it wouldn't be a very good tool. If you replaced the local theatre with a dishwasher, it would feel inhuman.

I accidentally had that TabNine shit on my vscode and it would just come in and fuck everything up until I figured out settings

something tabnine saw as well; enterprises pitch up saying they want an ethically trained model until it's *slightly* less effective than ChatGPT and then oh wait, well, maybe ethics aren't the first consideration after all
