It’s taboo to talk about exactly what happened on Oct 7 and it’s taboo to talk about how Israel’s abuses provoked the attack. How many of the 1,195 people killed were actually killed by Israeli forces? Did Israel deliberately leave its people undefended? We don’t know, and we’re not allowed to know.

One thing that struck me when I was learning about abolitionist literature in college is how much more they talk about the incest and other taboo practices common in slavery than a lot of contemporary discourses do.
While we’re on founding fathers, I think people actually *underrate* the Gothic horror of Jefferson and Sally Hemings. She was his slave, she was also his dead wife’s much younger half sister as a result of Jefferson’s father in law raping *his* slave.

It's interesting that Israel and Gaza are like the number one issue that audience's want creators to talk about. I don't really mind it, and of course I've talked about it, but the desire always seems to come with the insinuation that there's something taboo about it.
