And in this case, a Long Tom is so long ranged, it's measured in map sheets, not hexes. Heck, the rules aren't even in TW or TM - it's in TacOps. So unless the players like shooting at things 30 map sheets away, it's more likely to be their target.

Huh, learned what a laser insulator is from this. Fascinating idea. Checking the tacops book it's in I can't replicate it directly since the tech went extinct in 2820, and the campaign is currently in 3064, but this does give me a baseline to jump off with for modification. Thanks!

I feel like walking and running have been effectively consolidated? With turning no longer consuming mp, most walk actions in AS would be classed as running just from facing changes. Top speed is lower, true. And Sprint is a named optional rule in TacOps apparently, which seems to work just like AS

Almost everything in the play test minus ammo crits has optional rules that do a better job than the proposed “fixes”. Tac ops alternate to hit chart, TacOps backward movement (expanded), tac ops expanded movement chart, and tac ops PSR section are more complete and already published.

I genuinely don't understand why #BattleTech didn't include an easy-to-read Crush Depth chart like this in TacOps.
Hell of a lot easier than trying to derive the value each time based on the formula.

TacOps was split into two books:
Advanced Rules. For me this is mostly about planetary conditions and terrain.
Arms & Equipment. Cool new tech and weapons, but really needs either the Tech Manual or MegaMekLab for you to get the most out of it.
Campaign Ops (different book) is also a fun read!
