I have a train in Los Angeles every 10-20 minutes. My dad gets a train in Taipei every 2-4 minutes. No one complains about the low and affordable cost of transit when the cost of owning and parking a car in Taipei are so high.

We shopped and explored the vast Taipei City Mall that stretches a mile between the Airport MRT and Taipei Main train stations. It had meeting spaces, & play spaces for kids. Fun during peacetime, necessary for defense if bad things happen. Familiar place to sheltering kids.
