Churchill really didn't like 8th Army lampooned, they were in Tunisia, Takrouna, at the time of his "Letter to the Editor". Currently being auctioned, bids over >2k. Fascinating though! Where was he on April 17th 43, London? #WinstonChurchill #TunisianCampaign #AfricanStalingrad

#OTD 23 April, 1943. #WW2 Tunisia. War correspondents describe the Allied capture of Takrouna. The exploits of brave Maoris will feature prominently. It's a bittersweet victory: Kiwi losses were considerable, 459 men including 34 officers.

I've been thinking? Bad enough L/SGT Haane Manahi DCM was denied a VC for his actions at Takrouna in 1943 that the Royal Family doubles down by sending us HRH Nonce and then Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal New Zealand Army Logistic Regiment (The Duke of York’s Own)! #NZCrossed #LetsStopTheCosplay
