WORKERS ARE RISING ✊ “It’s the fight that never ends. We have to do everything we can for workers and everyone in this Country.”✊ REGISTER to MARCH via Link in Bio 🔗In preparation for International Workers’ Day THIS Friday, we joined Councilmember Hugo Soto-Martinez for his “Lens on Life” Series in partnership with the Barnsdall Gallery Theatre and Department of Cultural Affairs where they highlight a new monthly film screening of every month!April’s screening featured a very special showing of “Norma Rae” (1979) about a textile factory worker who unionizes her workplace after poor working conditions compromise her and her co-workers’ health.Following the film, Lindsay Dougherty, Secretary Treasurer of Teamsters Local 399, LA County Federation of Labor President Yvonne Wheeler, and legendary labor leader for Los Angeles garment workers, Cristina Vázquez joined in conversation with ‘All Things Labor’ Moderator, Alejandra Quintero to discuss how this film rings true to this day highlighting what can be achieved when workers stand and fight together.Corporate greed and the overreach of their power in our political system, big tech billionaires fast tracking their plans to replace human operators, anti-worker legislation and antiquated labor laws that keep the workers’ spirit and fight to organize for a better life at an all time high, while the density of union workers at an all time low due to the need for “faster, labor, contracts” NOW — we can’t and won’t give up the fight on behalf of ALL working families.JOIN @teamstersjc42, the LA Federation of Labor, Unions, Community Organizations and MORE this Friday to show our solidarity for workers everywhere. Teamsters Joint Council 42 will be marching together. REGISTER to MARCH via Link in Bio 🔗#SolidarityForever #NormaRae #MayDay2026
