Dark Sky was the best weather service - ever. It was the first Kickstarter I ever backed. Usually twice a week I feel a grief pang at the loss of it (to Apple who then destroyed everything useful and precious about it).

Opinion It's been another shabby week for Microsoft, and a shabbier one for its users. We learnt that Windows 11's epic habit of trying to corral customers into paid-for Microsoft services just got worse with a low-rent trick. Remote Desktop got a bit more secure, which is good, but in a way that suggests not too much user testing took place. As for GitHub… GitHub got two helpings of Chef Redmondo's Special Sauce.…

Let's be clear: my first Windows was 3.11 for Workgroups. At this point, I'm sure a copy is installed in my brain, though it seems to have downgraded itself to XP SP1. Most of my IT career has been spent supporting Windows, and I want to like Win11 but it's just bad.
