I've always been a #technicalPM, and I've really loved that, but wow oh wow, do I feel like there's so few good ones who dive into the data and understand HOW the solutions their teams build work.
I have to be able to know that to better articulate how other things can or can't fit into this.

No, but you DO need to speak the language.
Understand system constraints, discuss architecture intelligently, and earn the trust of engineers.
