![Excerpt from Doctor Who Circuit Breaker The Kaleidoscope [there's some more here but there's a character limit so I'm leaving the important bits, the removed part is about her using a device to peer into her memories] Now the chamber is present, bright, breathing. I’m somewhere else. Through a window, the towers of Gallifrey rise, silver towers in a burnt orange sky. And then I see her. Her name is Tecteun. We’re in her lab. A white woman, apparently in her sixties, but she’s really far older. Shoulder-length grey hair. There is a dark intensity in her gaze and precision in her hands as she pipettes tiny volumes of genetic material. I look down at my hands. They’re small, nine-year-old hands. I’m hiding behind a console, knees to my chest, knuckles crammed into my mouth to stop the sound. Hot tears sting my eyes as she calls my name. We can take a rest, she’s telling me. She’ll be back soon. And my hearts swell to bursting as I comprehend what I’m seeing, or rather, who. My original adoptive mother, the one on Gallifrey, Tecteun. The contrast between two mothers cuts clean. Civeline Palmer, all warmth and patience, teaching me of food and family, music and art and science. Tecteun, all measurement and extraction. For Tecteun I am her greatest discovery and her genius innovation. I am a scientific marvel, a curiosity. Did she even see me as a person? The Locus deepens. ‘Come out,’ Tecteun coaxes. ‘It’s not time for games.’ I don’t budge. The memory shifts. I’m squeezing through a ventilation hatch, skin scraping metal, gulping shallow breaths. I crawl through the system until my arms shake and my vision blurs. I drop from a grille and land hard on polished stone, in a grand, gilded hallway. Can’t stop though, it’s not safe, so I stagger forward. Ahead, the city opens into an array of doors. The air fizzes, like circuits crackling in a nearby room. I want to know more about that strange energy, it draws me with something I can’t resist. On the threshold of a space I recognise as a TARDIS console room, my hearts hammer. From within the central pillar, golden strands drift out, fine as mist, drawn towards me. They reach my skin. The energy doesn’t hurt; it seems to recognise. It drizzles into me, threads into my neurons and memory, settles somewhere behind my eyes. Me and ‘she who saved you’, just the way Civeline had told me. We’re meeting for the first time. Hello! After seconds, the energy fades. Doors close behind me. This is the first time, the memory that niggled when the TARDIS materialised around me. This is the first time the TARDIS swallows me whole. I stand there, bemused, small hands at my sides, and watch the coordinates on the external panel flicker and change. I don’t understand the symbols, but somehow, I understand the intent, as if this room is communicating with me. Dematerialisation begins. The ship moves and we fly into the Vortex. Time passes, I don’t know how to measure it. Maybe a few minutes, maybe hours, but the memory jumps ahead to doors that open to a cool grey wind. Hackney Marshes. A cloudy sky that presses low, a sky-colour I’ve never seen before. And it. Is. Fascinating. In the distance, the view is dominated by a single, startling anomaly, a giant, blue-skinned obelisk on the skyline. Wrapped in protective film, it catches the light as it rises from a graveyard of derelict warehouses and a forest of construction cranes. A new district of London is being born. My first glimpse of Earth is the birth of a financial district from the ruins of old docks. I’m only nine years old but I understand something instinctively: unlike Gallifrey, this is a place of rapid change. my pitch is that in 2032 we get a story about the fugitive doctor doing a mission for division to kidnap a child from some alien world (not gallifrey) and brought them to gallifrey where tecteun injected regeneration energy into them and turned them into a time lord
and that kid? that's the master

also anyways if you want a fugitive doctor story that doesn't have any returning concepts (other than tecteun) buy this comic from 3 years ago instead of circuit breaker it's good (it also doesn't have those monsters on the cover for the record idk what they're about)

what doctor who doesn't want you to know is that tecteun never fully figured out regeneration and just patched out the margin of error by slapping in a david tennant any time a regeneration goes wrong

Not sure if Chibnall has ever spoken about it specifically, but the Doctor’s meeting with Tecteun is very very reminiscent of the Architect scene from the Matrix.
I also hadn’t noticed that the Division seedbank station looks like a giant Tardis on the inside, & Tecteun is dressed like a gardener.

makes more sense to me if Tecteun had tried before to get the Doctor killed and Flux was the last resort, plus these are two of very few characters that we know who can give regenerations to folks

I'm not even mad if people dislike the episode/arc for whatever reason, but that criticism is just proof they don't want to engage with the discussion at all. In Flux she rages "you had no right" to Tecteun, basically spelling out what the point is.

if the doctor was kidnapped by tecteun and forced to forget their past and sent to time lord academy and indoctrinated into being a time lord then the time lord academy is a residential school

Next couple incarnations so the doctor can open the golden fob watch and in a way sorta restore themselves so we can also get episodes where maybe the 16th or 17th doctor faces a foe from The Doctor's days working for the Division that was headed by Tecteun.

Yes the sunny climes of Tenerife. Not quite Lanzarote but I did see a building yesterday in Santa Cruz that a guide told me was featured in a Who episode. I narrowed it down to the location where the Timeless Child was found by Tecteun (I think!. In reality it’s the city’s auditorium!
