Tehachapi Pass on CA 58 is the southernmost Sierra pass.

CA 58 is a freeway and often has strong winds and heavy traffic. Its job is to get you from Point A to B quickly.

"Tehachapi Pass" remains my all-time favorite piece for Railworks. Unfortunately, my OCD had me focusing on far too many distant details (read: non-railroad related), thus leading to severe burnout in 2018.

The oil tanks in the background are of what was then known as Pegasus Petroleum, which contained a loading facility next to the Union Pacific mainline. While the TP project itself was based on data from 2006, this bridge, having been installed in the 1950s, was fully operational until just a few years ago when it was replaced by hooded "Darth Vader" signals. My other passion is cars, especially Volkswagens, and since I had owned a couple of Kombis (and a sweet '61 dual cab), naturally... The buses are "parked" at a motel along Highway 14 in Mojave, CA. In-game action along Highway 14 in Mojave, CA. All in-game buildings in and around Mojave, CA, were of actual places, including this tire service along Highway 14. Although immensely satisfying, the extreme detail led to burnout in 2018. This was "Mike's Diner", a popular place for locals and passersby. The inside of the restaurant was decorated with Mike's pedal car collection. The structure remains, but sadly Mike passed away in the early 2000s. I don't know what became of his collections.
