I'm joining the #temperaturegang. I'll be #knitting a #temperatureblanket to chart daily highs and lows, hours of daylight, cloud cover, and precipitation. Let's see if I regret taking on something so complicated.

My current #TemperatureBlanket progress - I’m a week behind because we had the Red Alder Fiber Arts show last week. But, I have moved to the second background color! And I know have some warmer temps coming…

An in-progress crocheted temperature blanket made up of hexagons. Most have three rings of colors inside, mostly greens and blues, with a background color connecting them and forming the hexagons. The bottom two rows are a medium grey: the top row is a lighter greyish brown.

I was already into this project but PHEW let me tell you, this #TemperatureBlanket project is saving me right now. Touching something grounded in both reality and creativity every day is keeping me sane, I swear.

🧶 #TemperatureGang #crochet #craftiverse
A long string of crocheted hexagons, with part of a second row attached as well, on a table. They are each made of three rings of color, mostly greens and teals, and there are two solid colored circles (red and gray). They are attached with a dark brownish-gray background color, which creates the hexagon shape. The string of hexagons is so long that it’s folded to fit on the table.

🧶 A little cluster of colder weather colors and our anniversary silvery gray make the first corner of my #TemperatureBlanket

Five crocheted hexagons, each with three rings of colors, connected together with a dark gray color. The bottom three hexagons are greens and blues, and the top two are a silvery gray and one more greens one. You can see locking stitch markers attached to the top greens one.

Well so today is also my anniversary. Tough day to celebrate but what can you do. I crocheted a silver piece to add to my #TemperatureBlanket bc apparently 23 is the silver plate anniversary? I also made one for my husband’s birthday coming up - red for his birthstone.

Two crocheted circles - one silver gray and one garnet red, both with a little variegation in the colors

Yesterday it got cold enough for me to have to break out the greenest green on my #TemperatureBlanket
Which, to be clear, is not very cold for many of you. Seattle weather and all that. But hey it felt cold to us!

Here’s what I have so far! My temperature blanket will be 19 by 20 hexagons - it’s gonna be GIANT
#crochet #TemperatureGang 🧶
Crocheted hexagons for a temperature blanket. A bunch are joined to gather, and there are four unfinished rings next to them. The colors are all blues and greens, and the joining color is a medium gray.

I’m going to do one per day, plus one at the end of every month to represent average monthly rainfall. I don’t have those colors in hand yet but Knitted Wit is dyeing me a lovely gradient of blues.
I’m ridiculously excited about this whole project, honestly

We had our January gathering of our #TemperatureGang on Saturday at the Good Society Brewery (right next door to the shop!). It was so fun to compare different versions of a #TemperatureBlanket (some crochet, some knit), color choices, etc. We’ll be back next month!

A group of people sitting at a long table in a brewery are all looking at the camera and smiling. The table has food and drink and yarn on it. An overhead shot of several different crochet blanket projects made of hexagons with different colored rings, crocheted flower shapes, and knitting.

This is what it looked like the day our temperature blanket yarn arrived from Knitted Wit. 🥰🧶
We have a whole batch of folks working on temperature projects together! Different places, different things being tracked, some #knitting some #crochet
We’re using the #TemperatureGang tag - join us!
A giant pile of hand-dyed yarn on a table. The yarn is from Knitted Wit and a full rainbow of colors are there, as well as some neutral grays and tans.

One month complete on my 2025 #temperatureblanket ! Bonus appearance by Sam, my 3 mo old SO FLUFFY puppy. I’m really enjoying the daily practice of completing each hexagon and connecting it to its peers. #TemperatureGang #dogsky #crochet 🧶🐶
A flat lay of the first part of a crocheted blanket of connected hexagons. The high, low, and average temperatures for Seattle, WA are represented using different colors (mostly teals, purples, and pinks with a medium grey border). A fuzzy brown and white puppy is laying in the background looking to camera.

OK #temperaturegang, here’s what I’ve got so far! Today was new on a couple fronts: I used my coldest color and started my second row. Woo Hoo! #crochet

@seattleyarn.bsky.social, thank you for getting us started on #bluesky; now if I could only figure out how to subscribe to feeds…
