Even by Simon Jenkins's standards, it is utterly remarkable to argue against a new town at Tempsford without mentioning - or apparently even realising - that it is where East-West Rail and the East Coast Main Line meet, since it is literally the entire point (1/?) www.thetimes.com/comment/colu...

Or, more powerfully, would you like to build a new town with rail access to central London? Easy. If you reroute an existing high-speed service from one of the existing lines down HS2, you free up lots of rail capacity to put towards housebuilding.
