Oak Ridge National Laboratory researchers described an aluminum‑hydroxide sorbent for direct lithium extraction that they say delivers high lithium capacity (about 37.8 mg Li/g), operates with mainly water rather than strong acids, and has been licensed to Element 3 for scale‑up testing in Texas.
