Image of a white woman’s hand holding a book open in front of a bookshelf with books. The book is opened to the title page. The author’s name, Elizabeth Goudge, is at the top of the page. The title, Gentian Hill, is in large curly blue font in the middle of the page. At the bottom of the page is the publication information, New York, Coward-McCann, Inc. There are some numbers, presumably library markings, in pen and pencil. The book is a library discard. The woman’s thumb, the only visible finger, has dark nail polish. The books on the shelf are old cloth-bound volumes. Their covers are faded blue, green, and brown. Exterior view of the bookstore. It is a warehouse-type building. On the corrugated blue façade is a red banner with THE BOOK RESCUERS in yellow. Also on the banner are two emblems of the store, designed to suggest fire rescue badges. The walls of the store are corrugated white siding. The doors and windows in front are dark tinted glass. Two big metal donation bins stand by the doors. In white lettering on the glass above the doors and main windows is written PUZZLES KIDS LOCAL ART VHS LOUNGE BOOKS FICTION. On the lower left and right corners of the photo are cars parked in front of the store.

Picked up my copy of “Journey to Santosa” by @dmprior.bsky.social today at #thebookrescuers. Always happy to support fellow local authors and local indie bookstores.
