Go get 'em. #TheDakotaIncident #WednesdaySpoilers
Beacon berates Virgil for giving up and tells him that he needs to be the spark again or the future falls apart. As he disappears, Virgil realizes that he's Amistad Ervin, and takes his words to heart Virgil: "No more hiding. He's right. I have to accept that part of myself again... for my family, for Dakota, for a better tomorrow... it's time for Static to fight back."

I love comics #TheDakotaIncident #WednesdaySpoilers
Beacon: "Everything. Everything we know and love ceasing to exist. Your present is hollow, echoing a promise of a future that will never come to pass. That is, unless you're willing to be the catalyst for the future." Virgil: "I don't know what you're talking about." Beacon: "You say that like you didn't just see me crash into the pavement outta nowhere. I've seen your past -- the effects of Alva's death -- it changed the trajectory -- but not the destination. You're the key to saving the future!"

Fuck. #TheDakotaIncident #WednesdaySpoilers
Luthor casually reveals that he knows who Virgil is and is stationing a DEO office near his family's home, and scares Virgil out of his anger. Luthor leaves, having gotten everything he wanted. Beacon's narration: "In these new memories of mine, you never told me bedtime stories or sang me lullabies. Instead, you read me the same poem every night. 'Harlem', by Langston Hughes. It was about the Harlem Renaissance, and how as quickly as a dream can become reality... it can be deferred or denied."

Screw Lex Luthor, man. #TheDakotaIncident #WednesdaySpoilers
Luthor: "But first... a handshake. I feel it brings humanity back into the room after a deal is brokered." Rocket, begrudgingly shaking his hand: "Ain't nothin' human about that bald-#$@ head." Beacon's narration as Luthor reaches for Static next and Static's clenched fist sparks: "You had a future to fight for, so you played it safe. Uncle Virg' was more concerned about the present."

Oooooof. #TheDakotaIncident #WednesdaySpoilers
The Justice League break the news that Luthor is willing to agree to a ceasefire... on the condition that allmetahuman activity is banned in Dakota. None of them like this, but Icon argues that the city and its people can't take all out war. Icon: "Rocket, you convinced me to wear this suit because you thought seeing what I could do would help people reach their potential. That's what we're doing now..." Icon: "... showing them how to live to fight another day." Luthor's cabinet arrives for negotiations.

There's the twist. #TheDakotaIncident #WednesdaySpoilers
Beacon's narration: "Static was the spark. This was the beginning of the Age of Milestones. An extraordinary time. Dakota became a city with superheroes, and everyday life was a wondrous thing. Filled with unlimited possibility--" Hardware receives a letter. Beacon's narration: "Wait. What's happening here?" Beacon's narration: "This isn't part of the recorded history. Not part of my history. You... you taught me that fear is the genesis of action. But I am caught in the time stream of the past... and afraid." Hardware follows the letter and discovers Alva dead. Beacon's narration: "Now, tethered to this moment... I realize that the collapse of my future began here. With the murder of Edwin Alva. Engineer of misery."

Oof #TheDakotaIncident #WednesdaySpoilers
Alva: "With government funding, Alva Industries has perfected a special gas. To tag the miscreants with a radioactive marker, Madam Mayor." Mayor: "Giving us the means to track them down for later collection. Get all the bad elements off our streets. Do it, Edwin. Make our city pristine." Cut to this gas being used against protesters alongside all the other weapons cops use. Beacon's narration: "They called it Operation: Big Bang. To make a new Dakota without gangs... or protesters. You once told me that every good thing in our world was born from the universe screaming for something it was missing. I remind myself of your words every day. Of your faith in humanity to rise during times of suffering."

I am miffed that there isn't a 2nd print available for #TheDakotaIncident when I've seen many folks asking and looking for copies at shops that are sold out?
Yes. I am miffed.

#DCSoWhite, but maybe this is at least a small pin prick of light. I cannot stress enough that you need to go into the comic shop & ask for this book, BEFORE it comes out. Get those sales up. #TheDakotaIncident did well because we asked for the book in pre-sales. Help keep #Dreamer & #Galaxy here.

#TheDakotaIncident shows Most Black nerds and Black fantasy fans would rather be in the background of a White fantasy world than the center of their own. Sad. Just Sad.
