If this is about Qian Shan Cha Ke, I’ve loved all the dramas that have been adapted from her novels 🙂:
#TheDouble
#TheGlory
#LegendOfTheFemaleGeneral
None of these are perfect dramas of course, but each one of them has been compelling & absorbing (to me)

It felt like the Duke Su would have died in the middle of #TheDouble and FL would have stayed widow with a child the rest of the drama

While watching #cdrama #TheDouble in the final episode, after some actually interesting fight scenes, I experienced a moment I have not enjoyed for many a year.
Only those of us who know will know.
My man spoke an entire paragraph.
And the screen said ONE word.
I am complete.

#TheDouble by #FyodorDostoyevsky What happens when you meet your identical mirror image? A haunting, surreal tale of identity, paranoia, and psychological madness. 👤👥🌀 Read here: https://kensbookinfo.blogspot.com/2018/12/the-double-by-fyodor-dostoyevsky.html

😂 Fair point! - I think I was just wanting permission to focus on the show itself
& yes, it’s undeniably melodramatic, but I haven’t really experienced it as messy either
It’s focussed much like the first half of #TheDouble or #TheGlory - meaning there’s uncertainty but definition (re her roles)

episode 8 of #TheLamentOfAutumn has the most blatant Implied Masturbation Scene i've witnessed in a #cdrama since #TheDouble. Very well done. Cheng Lei's best bath scene yet, imo 😌

I’m thinking:
#Reset for a short thriller
#MysteriousLotusCasebook for wuxia/action/mystery
#TheDouble for a glamorous historical revenge
#LoveOfTheDivineTree for fantasy
#PursuitOfJade or #WonderlandOfLove for historical adventure/romance
What do you think? 🙂 (also asking @tinacmml.bsky.social)

Yes, good suggestion 👍 - I should have thought of #TheDouble, because it has a great blend of tension, revenge plotting, action, & strong visuals
And it’s on Netflix too, which means they don’t have to reach for a new streaming subscription! 🙂

I think #TheDouble is a relatively accessible historical C-drama for someone who’s new to the genre. It’s gripping and visually pleasing, with excellent performances by all the main cast. And although there is romance, the revenge and court intrigue are the main plot threads. It’s on Netflix too!

Yes, as with kdramas a lot of people start with contemporary cdramas - they are certainly more accessible than many historical shows
Though recently I’ve heard of a lot of people getting hooked on #PursuitOfJade or #TheDouble, so it’s difficult to say for sure what will work for each person

36 was the best episode yet, in a drama full of amazing episodes.
Honestly, it’s also a spiritual healing for those of us spurned by the treatment of Princess Wanning in #TheDouble
What an amazing character and phenomenal actress. #LiMeng

The evil Dad is something else. That smooth snaky smile *shudder*. The best villain in Cdrama yet? And SPOILER (sort of) terrific scene: the Red Funeral. The story is briliant. Would wish for better leads but nothing's perfect. This is #TheDouble without chemistry.

Oooh I didn't know that #LiMeng who played the delightfully unhinged Princess Wan Ning in #TheDouble is also in #AgainsttheCurrent, playing a remarkably similar character #cdrama. 🤭
