CD#275 #CrowdedHouse #TheVeryBestOf a 1996 comp that I think isn’t mine, it’s my wife’s. I shan’t be listening to all of hers. (The Lighthouse Family??). Anyway the ‘VERY’ best of this band would be an EP of Fall At Your Feet, Weather With You, Distant Sun & Don’t Dream It’s Over. The rest is OK.

CD#164 #TheByrds #TheVeryBestOf 1997 27-track retrospective of The Byrds from ‘65-‘70. Competently good Americana with a decent smattering of Dylan covers. Some of these songs are incredible: 8 Miles High, Turn!, Feel A Whole Lot Better, and a cracking version of Its All Over Now Baby Blue.

CD#35
#TheBeachBoys #TheVeryBestOf #2001

So, over 77 rollercoaster minutes you get the ‘best’. From the sublime (Track 1: Good Vibrations) to the ridiculous (Track 30: Kokomo). The compilation is around 90% genius really and will raise a smile & some goosebumps. One of the best singles bands ever.

While guarding a grass and wetland wilderness at night for two years, I played this for a pack of coyotes. All of us mouring the enclosure of our commons.
