If Lucifer was destroyed, Virgil would.
Lucifer is not a proud person. Virgil is. Pride is all that keeps the darkness at bay.
He'd be The Devil they thought Lucifer.
In all the universe, the only light that would remain would be the ghost light of dead stars.

Just because of the themes and dynamics I like to explore, it almost universally boils down to 'loss of loved ones.' If they people they love die, especially if it's not natural death, they will likely explode and take the world down with them.
