Not a Matcham theatre — but one that matters. 🎭

Manchester’s Grade II listed Theatre Royal dates from 1845 and is the city’s oldest surviving theatre. It has been on the Theatres at Risk Register since 2013.

A theatre that deserves a future.

Salford’s Grade II-listed Victoria Theatre, designed by Bertie Crewe, opened in 1900. Now at risk, it retains a remarkable historic auditorium and rare stage machinery.

If local authorities want them to so called "Tourist Taxes" can work for the heritage and cultural sector...

Leith Theatre is on the Theatres Trust #TheatresAtRisk register, but cash from the Edinburgh tourist levy is bringing hope for a sustainable future.
Excellent news 🎉

Leith Theatre is on our #TheatresAtRisk list but this additional funding is an incredible boost and will help secure its long-term future

We hope that other local authorities considering tourist taxes will follow Edinburgh by reinvesting in culture infrastructure
📣 Leith Theatre has secured £5m from Edinburgh’s new Visitor Levy nearly 100 years after it was gifted to the people of Leith.

This investment brings us closer to opening as a permanent, year-round cultural venue.

Both are council-owned theatres built in the 70s, pointing to a worrying trend for this type of venue
