I think what ultimately makes me so mad is that it is fucking up imagery that isn't even theirs forever. it is no longer safe or advisable to use symbols like the maltese cross, etc., even if they were never actually >directly< used by those groups, bc by association they've been used in bad faith.

I saw him twice (first husband was a big fan). I never did quite understand why he came to Niigata - it wasn't usually a stop for international artists (apart from the time Radiohead did a secret gig there bc some mate of theirs lived there).

this is the exact correct strategies btw, though I'd add hair as the #1 thing (for people who don't radically change theirs all the time). i have mild face blindness and one time i sat next to someone i knew for an hour and didn't realize it was them because they had radically changed their hair.
