okay but they did all that and the "shoplifting epidemic" wasn't and still is not real. this is a nothing argument because it's not actually happening
feel like the thing missing in Shoplifting Discourse is that if you leave aside the morality of stealing from a big corporation, widespread shoplifting forces retailers to take onerous and annoying steps to combat it which causes harm and deadweight loss to all the other store patrons.
