Thormesis! German postblack metal. Addictively good, from 2019. Gonna be playing this one a bunch I suspect. #blackmetalsky

Damn, I'm really sinking my teeth into the latest from Thormesis this morning. Great stuff! Pleasantly surprised by how much I'm enjoying the application of the cleans.
Shoutout to @posttim.bsky.social for consistently hyping this one, I probably wouldn't have listened otherwise!

This didn’t make a ton of lists last year but was proudly #3 on mine bc it’s addictively good postblack/gaze/metal.

Okay, enough serious / sentimental posting. I’m still enjoying that Gavran album. Møl felt good but definitely some misses on it for me. Made me think of Thormesis from last year a little, but I like Thormesis more.
Verdicts from the new releases for y’all?

I’m not sure what I’ll make of the new Thormesis but it was released today and I’m definitely gonna check it out. Post-black metal from Germany.

Some great recs in here, and it got me listening to Thormesis, The Sixth again this afternoon. #blackmetalsky
What’s a good post-black metal band other than Deafheaven? I need something dark but with some artistic merit.

This morning has been more German and Austrian post-black metal from around 2019 and editing discharge instructions for inclusive and accessible language. Thormesis is still one of the best I’ve heard.

Damn, Germany is having a pretty great year in metal stuff: Ancst and Der Weg einer Freiheit will be on my aoty list, probably Thormesis, too, still thinking about Heretoir. That Phosphorus debut is great. I’m sure I’m missing others.

Here it is. The guide you need. The one list to rule them all. Gifted early. I’ll say more below. But: the main event. My 2025 AOTY list. Lovely stuff.

What’s wrong with me?!?! Really enjoying the new Thormesis now, when just yesterday I was like, eh, whatever. Such a moody listener….

Didn’t enjoy the singles and didn’t really like my first listen, but I’ve since spun this a whole bunch and am absolutely loving the new Thormesis.

Melancholic, atmospheric (yet dynamic) Post-Black Metal, somewhere between Dödsrit and early Katatonia. Magnificent.

Can’t believe I forgot the new Heretoir. New Thormesis, too.
There are some others mentioned in comments. And still more I’m sure I’m missing.

October’s top five albums I listened to most—and Thormesis made top artists bc of a catalog run. The Long Road North was a surprise as I’ve tended to go for other albums from them.

Like Der Weg Einer Freiheit and Thormesis very recently, Heretoir proves once again that Germans are masters of Black, post-Black or Blackgaze (call it what you will) that breaks new ground.
Another beautiful and brilliant album.

And I’ve continued: King Apathy, followed by Thormesis. This might just be the mood for the day. Plenty of time this weekend to listen to new stuff, if that feels right.
