I treat any QR code with the same type of suspicion as a thumbdrive found on the ground

FWIW

I ran chrootkit and clamav on my new system after I deleted its partitions, and also on my install media (USB thumbdrive). I was also able to verify the signing key on the install iso

This is basic security housekeeping in my house

I don't think it'd scare me. I'd just need a thumbdrive. I may have one lying about.

Bro dropped an unsecured thumbdrive at a medieval times restaurant in Dallas and of course someone snagged it. On the drive there was porn and confidential Gearbox data. The fact that he's still the CEO after causing a HUGE security breach probably fucked with his head

It's kind of odd to me that you can't just buy like, a usb-c thumbdrive shaped thing that is literally just a couple oscillators that expose everything over software. I think the closest thing are function/signal generators? They seem too expensive for what they do

I was considering posting some of my work on AO3 but you’re not the first person I saw who complained about it today. I keep my stuff in local files on my phone, Dropbox and a thumbdrive, but I’m starting to rethink my consideration 😕

Fellow IPad artists I need your suggestions!
I have an IPad Pro 11.5 that only has 64 GB. I'm constantly fighting to have enough storage space to update the damn thing. I do have an external hard drive with my backups but a bunch of drawings I cant delete necessarily. How do? C port thumbdrive? Help

On a fresh drive I wouldn't have had nearly as much trouble, but getting it to play with windows on the same drive was a awful

Did you flash an iso onto a thumbdrive to make the install disc? That's pretty hard already if you don't have much tech ability

You can also use ChrisTitus Winutil to create a Windows 11 bootable install thumbdrive that leaves out the AI and other crap that slows Windows 11 down. It will also install on any hardware as it will not check for TPM chip. That way you can upgrade your computer from Win 10 to Win 11. It just has

Fortunately, I've learned quite a bit about certain ways to deal with Linux. And especially, how to recover via a live-booting thumbdrive!

The actual update/install will happen tomorrow, while I try to calm down today...

They are playing the same game in California. In July, DHS claimed California had 190,000 non citizen voters on the rolls. Then they sent a new list (on a thumbdrive?) last week that said 20,000. Then this week they did a statewide voter raid, based on this list, and only charged 28.

Installing Ubuntu today merely requires that you download the OS to a thumbdrive, reboot your computer using the drive as a startup disk, and click "install." Canonical's installer automatically hunts down the correct software for your hardware and configures it.

Didn't #CA already have a thumbdrive of names of suspected noncitizens? Doesn't sound like their initial accusation was right. Besides Mr. #Blanche , you don't control elections and neither does #DJT so stop the lies. The STATE controls elections. #VOTEBLUE

Justice Dept. Demands That California Counties Help Identify Noncitizen Voters
Election officials across the state received letters from the agency saying if they fail to comply, they “risk significant federal scrutiny.”

don’t worry. it’s written in cobol. it’s safe. nobody has plugged a thumbdrive into the laptops that track f-35 maintenance. or the IRS master file. if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, because if you just believe hard enough, time stops for everyone, not just too-clever-by-half system admins
