The image shows the exit stairs of the Nāhuku (Thurston Lava Tube), a famous 500-year-old subterranean cave located within Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park on the Big Island of Hawaii. There are long, thin tendrils hanging down from the ceiling which are tree roots from the lush Ohia rainforest growing directly above the shallow cave ceiling.
