New TierPoint data center in Downtown West looks like hell w/ permanently boarded-up street level. Was praised by Mayor Jones & Greater STL in 2024. A prominent apartment developer made a competing offer to buy the bldg but data center's offer won since they could close the deal faster

I believe the Tierpoint proposal is for a 27MW facility, "Standard' category. Cox Antwi's amendment may let them basically sidestep any setback requirements if they don't exceed 30% of total building sq ft. Even more if the ground floor is a Potemkin Village. If you were curious why that went in.

That is not the kind of data center they're talking about. That is a 1 megawatt center for commercial use.

The controversial AI "Hyperscale Campuses" above eat 1,000 to 2,000+ times more electricity than TierPoint Waterbury and emit massive amounts of air and noise pollution.
