apply the noise to the private corpus by restricting it to only early timesteps, distribution match to a public corpus for late timesteps, and rely on the 1/f spectrum of most natural datasets to make the splice work

much of what I've learned about timesteps in game programming is that there are lots of subtle ways to get it wrong and plenty of insane ways to try and get it right

(This was the same weekend that @maeveynot.online came and did the Timesteps trip of listening to Wendy Carlos’ discography in a van while driving around Pawtucket and Providence)

😍I'm super happy of how this paper turned out! Pretty cool use of diffusion IMHO.

Well, I was gonna share this cool event celebrating the work of Wendy Carlos and her Rhode Island connection in a thread from some pop style opinion peeps but I guess they block for … replying. So yinz get to see them.

Ever get tired of tiny timesteps bottlenecking your MD simulations?

We show how to train a model for large-timestep Hamiltonian dynamics directly on standard MLFF datasets. 𝗡𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀, 𝗻𝗼 𝘂𝗻𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗻𝗼 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿 needed!

I will be at #CVPR2025 this week in Nashville.

I will be presenting our paper "Around the World in 80 Timesteps:
A Generative Approach to Global Visual Geolocation".

We tackle geolocalization as a generative task allowing for SOTA performance and more interpretable predictions.

...and my neighborhood pals (the Legendary Dewan brothers) and I used her "Timesteps" from Clockwork Orange as music for our surreal radio plays. Carlos was as formative in our weird middle school universe as Monty Python, Firesign Theater, Escher, etc... A gift to our young developing minds.

Adversarial Flow Models (AF): AF unifies Adversarial and Flow Models.

Unlike GANs, AF learns optimal transport (stable). Unlike CMs, AF only trains on needed timesteps (save capacity). You can train super-deep 112-layer 1NFE model! SOTA FIDs!

I spent the night of May 20, 2019, in a minivan with a couple friends and several heretofore strangers cruising Providence and Pawtucket and listening to a curated mix of Wendy Carlos’ music. Amazing night.

"Timesteps" by Wendy Carlos

Dreamlike, groundbreaking, at times industrial sounding, this is the music playing during the scene in A clockwork Orange where the Ludovico technique is being applied

yeah this is way easier when you leave out the way timesteps work

Frustrated at general lack of wind footprints available in model output I decided to do it myself, but with a twist. This is an ECMWF ensemble median wind footprint. Essentially found the median ensemble gust value for each location at each timestep and found maximum across all timesteps.

It was sheer coincidence that in 1970 Wendy Carlos (BOTD) and Rachel Elkind were working on the piece “Timesteps” - inspired by the novel A Clockwork Orange - when they learned that Stanley Kubrick was making the film.
They sent him a recording.
He immediately hired them to score the film.

Fancy new and improved triangle rasterizer that looks exactly the same (but it's like 4x faster now since it computes a whole 2x2 cluster instead of one pixel at a time)

Lastly, action games are highly-concurrent, formally an intractable series of interlocking differential equations without closed-form solutions. So we use numeric approximations, which in variable timesteps introduce intrinsic RNG . So high-level players cannot reliably "reach the ceiling."
