Doing timecode math in my head
I can think of a dozen different ways to try and rig up a system to have this be automated but to me the solution is to pay a guy $20/hour to jog through the episode with burned-in-timecode on the screen, find the act breaks and write down the timecode when they happen bsky.app/profile/tft....
I did some of this when I was at Apple; not for ad insertion but to find breaks for parallelizing H.264 encoding in linear TV. You can look at chroma and audio energy and it’s pretty good. What you could do now if you wanted would be way better (this was in 2008).
