perhaps you'll allow me to share w/ ye what I just learned which is that ‘pukapuka’ is not in fact the Māori transliteration of ‘book’ as often stated; rather the kupu came about when our tīpuna saw the “leaves” of books & likened them to native puka leaves so named the collection of them: pukapuka

Big mihi to all those involved in reviving the ceremonies associated with matariki and puanga. Such a beautiful way to connect to mātauranga and our tīpuna

One of my sons is getting married tomorrow. He'll be wearing over his suit a Korowai woven by his great great grandmother Rangimarie.
He's getting married in a Whare carved and woven by his Koro and Nanny.

The kōrero in the House, the voices in the streets, the truth in our karakia…all of it is building towards something bigger.

Whether you’re walking, watching, submitting, or just trying to hold it all together…do it with intention.

Our tīpuna didn’t hand us silence. They handed us courage.

Reenrolled in reo Māori classes, a Tikanga course and starting Tēnei Au a leadership program for Māori.

It is a huge investment in time, and emotion. For my mokopuna and uri to get back what was tīpuna given and stolen from us #nzpol

Bit overwhelmed thinking about the mahi but not the kaupapa.

Loomulikult, müts maha tema ees ja kaastunne! Aga endise ENSV tippude tipuna ei oleks ta EV presidendirallis siiski pidanud osalema. See on minu arvamus.

Wish there was something quick and fast-acting, a potion or a pill, so that tomorrow morning I awoke fluent, and flawless, and fearless, in the reo of our tīpuna.

Before heading into the House for QT and the 2nd reading of the TPB, we paused for karakia.

To breathe, to ground ourselves, to remember who we’re doing this for.

This how we stay connected, to our tīpuna, to each other, to the kaupapa, to those who believe in te tiriti, to our why.

Great can't wait.

Hoping our tipuna keep us safe.

Karakia our coastal whānau are safe because I fear they will wear the brunt.
Tragically I think 11 people have already died in Aotearoa this year because of extreme weather. We need to reduce our emissions and invest in climate adaptation with urgency. But naturally, this government is instead pursuing coal mines and an LNG terminal. www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/weather-l...
'Threat to life': State of emergency declared across entire region as low rapidly deepens
People are strongly urged to take this seriously and prepare now.

So many beautiful tuna out tonight I think my tīpuna may have been slightly embarrassed by some of the me vs tuna action that went on tonight 🤣🤣

My feeling about the tīpuna is that they want a day off from all our hoha ego driven nonsense lol.

The repeal of Section 7AA strips Oranga Tamariki of its duty to honour Te Tiriti and partner with iwi.

It puts more Māori kids at risk by handing full control back to the Crown.

3rd reading after question time.

The photo is of a protest sign from the hikoi.

Seeing Māori and Pākehā join in on this is exactly the kind of future our tīpuna envisioned under Te Tiriti. David Seymour and the rest will fail, I feel it in my bones

Amazing decolonising participatory research by colleagues in Aotearoa, looking at ancestors as co-researchers. It’s a beautiful project and a beautiful website.
