It has a fully functional whammy bar and is a solidbody. It's action is set fast. This electric guitar is in almost new condition. The finish is a naturalburst (tobaccoburst.) This is a Kay K573-Speed Demon, shaded walnut finish/tobaccoburst, hollowbody, electric guitar made by Kay of Chicago, IL circa 1962. This is a player’s grade guitar or beginning collector’s model. It works and sounds great but has been sanded and played for many years. The Speed Demon models were offered between 1960 and 1966 in various department store catalogs catalogs and sold under the Kay brand. The unlabeled headstock means this was sold through a department store like Dillards or another of the long-ago closed chains. Similar models were sold by Sears but they are very rare. The Kay-branded models had crown-style headstock versus the paddle/hockey-stick-style on this model. The only other significant difference is the knobs. This guitar has large black plastic/bakelite knobs with a chrome top versus Kay’s white knobs. Description from VintageSilvertones.com

Silvertone 1435 solid body electric guitar, 2 pickups, whammy bar, made in Japan 1965. This is a Silvertone 1435, double pickup, solidbody, electric guitar with a tobaccoburst finish. It was made in Japan by Teisco for Silvertone. The pickup rocker switches are labeled Mic 1 on/Mic 2 on to turn the pickups on/off. It's fully functional, very nice condition with a straight neck but the whammy bar may not be original. Otherwise, it's 100% original parts. This is a Kay made Old Kraftsman K8990 “Upbeat” electric guitar in tobaccoburst with a hollowbody, two pickups, and it was built in Chicago, IL circa 1957. The “Upbeat” models were offered between 1957 and 1961 in the Kay catalogs. The Old Kraftsman’s branded guitars were sold through the Spiegal catalog. It’s a player’s grade guitar. It works and sounds great but shows its nearly 70 years worth of wear with various nicks and dings.Description from VintageSilvertones.com The guitar is all original and in good condition. But it is missing the pickguard. It shows some wear, scratches, crazing, and dings from the last 70 years (or so) of use but overall it’s in nice playing shape. It has a beautiful, tobaccoburst finish on the front and sides. It has curly maple sides and spruce top back. The pickups give a great Country/Folk/Blues/Jazz range. The neck pickup is super strong and if turned up all the way quite thunderous and the bridge pickup is gritty and more twangy. It includes gig bag.Description from VintageSilvertones.com

Teisco made many guitars for Sears. This early 2pu w/rocker switches doesn't appear in the catalogs-so model number is iffy.

Silvertone-Teisco model #WG-2L, solidbody, electric guitar with 2 pickups-brownburst. This is a 1965, brownburst, Silvertone, solidbody, electric guitar made for Sears by Teisco of Japan. The Teisco model number is WG-2L but I haven't been able to locate the actual Sears catalog model number. It has two pickups with several different combinations of controls to attain quite a few varieties of tones. This guitar is a testament to the significant contributions of the Japanese guitars manufacturers to the low-end market. It has four switches which split the pickups into upper and lower ranges of the strings; much in the same way Burns did it with the Split Sound Jazz Guitar. These switches are a little bit scratchy when changing them but they do work fine. The whammy bar/tremolo works great.Description from VintageSilvertones.com

Preferred the body-shape of yesterday’s one, but it’s nice to see the family resemblance with this one - 4+2 headstock, tobaccoburst, hardware, stripey pickguard and rectangular fret markers.

There's a major difference between the 1476 and 1477. The 1476 is black and the 1477 is tobaccoburst. ;-) Seriously, there exactly the same guitar aside from the color.

There are versions with a tremolo too. But, even those are identical aside from the trem.

Gave the Epiphone some love today with a fretboard oil and new strings. I absolutely love this guitar and really hope they keep the “Epiphone Inspired By Gibson Custom” line going.
