I realize Hitler was very good at fascism, but the Nazis are far from the only historical models we can look at to understand how fascism has looked. What fascists and authoritarians (lord knows you can be the latter without being the former) do you feel like we don't talk about enough?

April 25, 1926: “Turandot” premieres at La Scala in Milan. The opera about a cold-hearted princess and her tireless suitor was unfinished by Giacomo Puccini when he died in 1924. In the middle of Act III the music stops and conductor Arturo Toscanini says: “Here, the maestro laid down his pen." 1/3

One year Puccini posted Toscanini a Xmas panettone, forgetting that they'd fallen out again and fired off a telegram : “PANETTONE SENT BY MISTAKE -- PUCCINI!” He received another back almost as quickly: “PANETTONE EATEN BY MISTAKE -- TOSCANINI!”
