I am in a coffee shop right now. There are eight ceiling lamps with paper shades, a single unguarded tracklight, a bunch of overhead light fixtures in the employees area and behind that fluorescents in a drop down and then the light coming in from outside and its completely baffling.

Maintenance came in today to replace a halogen lamp in the kitchen tracklight. Within the hour I got an over-excited text from the management company's AI assistant ("Great news! Your work order etc etc has been completed") and now I'm anticipating with dread the feedback emails that will follow.

33% of the illumination in my kitchen tracklight has stopped working. I use LEDs rather than halogen because they're cheaper and brighter but it's still more bloody expense and they're an absolute bastard to replace. Whoever designed that fitting needs a good talking to, whether male or female.

One other thing happening to day is replacing a dud in the kitchen tracklight. Originally halogen (only last about a year) so I replaced them 5 or 6 years ago with LEDs. If you've ever had to change one of these you'll know what an almighty pain it is. The packaging on this one says "last 22 years".

There is a Sleep Number bed that's 10k and I fell asleep on it in a noisy mall with a bright tracklight shining directly in my eyes and I will never forget that bed.

Going to ring a light manufacturer in a minute because for the life of me, I cannot figure out how to change the led bulb in this tracklight

I'll refine that. Holding a GU10 bulb in a tracklight fitting. There were three 20W halogens in it when I moved in. I replaced those with 50W LEDs pretty smartish but one of those started failing a few months ago. I kept the halogens and decided to replace the LED with one. What a bleedin' faff.
