I once got lost by accidentally going off trail in what was essentially a very large paddock. Within 10 mins I was completely disoriented, none of the landmarks made sense, and I couldn't hear trailmates. In daylight, clear conditions, with barely any ground cover.
I just, what is the point even of a trail-generator?? Maybe I hike too much for something like this to be at all tempting, but . . . Trails aren’t, like, roads? Your choices are pretty limited, comparatively, so the only way I see this working is if it creates routes OFF-TRAIL.
Don’t use AI to identify whether or not a plant is edible.
Don’t use AI to generate a trail route.
Don’t use AI to create a recipe.
Don’t use AI for creative work (it turns your brain into mush!).
Maybe, like, don’t use AI!!

Loved that horse. Had to prove the precise problem to trailmates by turning him around like hands of a clock and…yep…’party time’ came only when that canyon wind pointed to “due ass” 🥰

Trailmates by @hal-monitor.bsky.social grabbed me with its bold 2-colour art style and chunky, graphical page layouts. It's a really nice story told with flair and fun, and another one that left me wanting to see mre of the characters.
