Oh cool, look at this in the final issue (July 1990) of Computer Entertainer ... it's "Wing Leader," the original name of Wing Commander! It's fun to see it previewed here from its Summer CES demo.

Wing Commander Academy has two big nods to the trainsim. The first episode opens with the same 'reveal' as the original game, where what you thought was a space battle is actually a simulator. Then we also see the Tiger's Claw's sim at the start of On Both Your Houses!
