The cover for The Traitor & the Wretch, illustrated by Amy Phillips. A greyscale black and white illustration with the look of a charcoal and pencil drawing shows two men, each seemingly running from something. Knell, with grey skin and long tangled hair, looks frightened as chains and bones try to drag him downward. Percy, a scarred man with paler skin and shirt dark hair welds a dagger and is looking over his shoulder, he is surrounded by a halo of stylized blades.

10.10.26 Happy birthday to one of my favorite books of all time!

Love these two awful men.
#TraitorandTheWretch
On the left is Knell, a ragged man with a thin face, beaming, as he holds a plate with a slice of cake with massive insect head smushed onto it. He has the rest of the insect’s body slung over his shoulder. He’s handing the cake slice to his companion, Percy, a buff man with a scared face and in scuffed armor. He is decidedly less enthused and may actually be on the brink of bolting. His eyes are turned towards the viewer in a silent plea. The rest of the cake is on stone table between them with the words “Happy 1ST!” on it. A smaller, yet still oversized, insect is at the corner of the table, wearing a party hat. On the bottom reads the caption: Just because you’re on the run, doesn’t mean you can’t have fun!”

Knell: "We can't escape the horrors of what we've done and what was done to us."

Percy: "Is that a challenge?"

Saw that my favorite book was turning a year old soon, so I decided to draw @mythjae.bsky.social’s boy Knell in celebration

And if y’all haven’t read The Traitor and The Wretch yet, now’s the perfect time to do so!

Knell from the book The Traitor and The Wretch sitting in a cave. He is wearing a long, tattered black robe and his face is mostly in shadow. The only bright spot of color is his blue-ish green eyes

WAIT. . .

What if Knell had his own fashion line??
(it took me WAY too long to do this, but it wouldn't leave my head until it was done 😆)
Digital painting I did of Jasmine Walls' character Knell. He's wearing a blue jacket, orange shirt and yellow pants and the title on the picture says "The Modern Wretch."

Percy tried to kill the Prophesized Hero and got his hand chopped off for it. He's not getting that back. Unfortunately, it was his dominant hand.
Also, everyone in the kingdom now hates him and he's got a massive bounty on his head.

Knell mostly just has really terrible luck.

Percy is busy making his escape after causing some kind of ruckus (likely starting a fist fight with some high class noble) while Knell has pickpocketed nearly every person on the ballroom floor and is busy stealing a lot more upstairs while Percy kindly acts as a distraction.

The exploding lizard scene and The Horse Conversation (if you know, you know) in #traitorandthewretch were unplanned but hit me as I was writing. They both made the scenes way better (and made me laugh) so they stayed.

I was inspired to do an additional 4-panel comic thingy of Ruth and Percy's interaction in #traitorandthewretch
A digital painting I made of Percy from Jasmine Walls' book The Traitor and the Wretch. He is leaning against a stable wall, wearing a dark green cloak and green/brown clothing. A forest is in the background. A digital painting I did of Ruth, also from Jasmine Walls' book The Traitor and the Wretch. In the background, there is a back door to the inn she owns. She is wearing a cream-colored shirt and glaring at Percy as she says "Is it true, what they say you did?" Percy again, leaning against the same stable with the same forest in the background, but this one is a reaction to Ruth's question; he lowers his head in anger and possibly regret as the shadow from the stable wall covers his face. Ruth again, with the same background, no longer glaring but looking weary. She says "You idiot."

Me: I really loved #traitorandthewretch it was my favorite book this year! 🤩 I should draw fanart of Percy and Knell!

*draws Ruth instead* 😁
Digital fanart I made of Jasmine Walls' character Ruth from her book The Traitor and the Wretch. On the left side is a full-length drawing of Ruth who has dark hair and wearing a red skirt and cream colored top, holding a bucket with her left hand and flipping the bird with her other one. There are chickens clustered on the ground around and behind her. On the right side are two different bust drawings of Ruth, the top one is three-quarter view and the bottom is side view.

Given the resources, Percy has a full skincare routine, a cup of tea, maybe enjoys his husband reading aloud before he sleeps.

Knell's only routine is watching Percy sleep for a solid hour like a benevolent sleep paralysis demon.

An inforgraphic for The Traitor & The Wretch (cover art by Amy Phillips) written by Jasmine Walls and illustrated by Rowan MacColl. It reads: Minor villains dungeon-crawling their way to a happy ending. On the run from an entire kingdom that wants them both dead. This guy (the wretch) helped raise a Chaos God to bring about the end times (he's not coping well) This guy (the traitor) tried to kill the Prophesized Hero (it ended badly) Enemies-to-Lovers Mutated cave creatures! Undead horrors! Endless pitch black caves! Somehow, it's a romance! An infographic showing the cover for This Mortal Coil (art by Jan and Vlad Schwardts) that reads: What's a skeleton to do when they outlive their wizard overlord? Go on a quest they are wildly unqualified for, apparently This novella can fit so many illustration in it. Evil wizards, corrupt kings, vengeful spirits, and one very tired skeleton. Includes: a magic sword with a mid-life crisis. No romance! We're not even sure they count as friends, honestly. Pre-order now at bonedustpress.com
