Not my field anymore, but banks don’t actually want you to carry a balance long term on your credit card. They make much more money from customers who are “transactors” (pay off card every month) than they do people who max out the card then pay min payment.
Transaction fees add up.

Feels like the game is coming to an end for the transactors. Personally, I'm fine with it, but I wish we could have gotten a good instant payment network first. But that would have required cudgeling a bunch of banks and merchants onto FedNow and Jesus fucking forbid we do that.
